Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology is driving a genomics revolution in clinical routine testing, translational research and reproductive health. As a world leader in NGS technology development, thousands of Ampliseq and Oncomine assays are performed on our Ion Torrent Instruments every day around the globe. The Inside Sales Specialist will serve in both a direct sales capacity while also coordinating with the field sales team and work across a highly matrixed sales organization. To be fully effective, the Inside Sales Specialist (ISS) will be trained to have a strong understanding of the NGS workflow. The NGS ISS will be responsible for attaining sales quota by prospecting for new accounts, growing our product portfolio in existing accounts, and maintaining a high level of support for current customers. Key responsibilities: Prospects among new and active customers to generate leads and expand commercial funnel. Initiates sales process by scheduling appointments; making initial presentation; understanding customer goals, priorities, and challenges. Coordinates with field teams to progress opportunities through the sales cycle and close sales. Expands sales in current accounts by introducing new products and services and developing new applications. Documents customer facing activities within our customer relationship management (CRM) system. Support pipeline management and sales tracking with use of CRM system and other designated IT tools. Use Strategic Selling techniques within assigned accounts at all levels of the organization which influence purchasing decisions. Develop, write, and implement a business plan for managing assigned territory annually, updated quarterly. Key Competency Requirements: Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills Interpersonal effectiveness and rapport building Self-directed, persistent, and goal-oriented Strong prospecting, discovery, sales, objection handling and closing skills Ability to work in a team environment and influence others to achieve results. Education and Experience: Minimum education: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field. Preference for individuals with hands-on laboratory research, selling and/or customer facing experience. Molecular biology and/or sequencing research experience a plus. Prior sales experience an asset.
