Job summary
The Scale pillar is the backbone of MaintainX's engineering excellence, encompassing our DevOps, Tooling, and Quality Assurance teams. They are responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure, tools, and processes that enable our product teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and reliably.
We are building the Catalyst team to serve as a force multiplier across the engineering department. This team will operate at the intersection of development teams, platform teams, and senior technical leadership, focusing on driving technical excellence and cross-team collaboration.
As a Technical Lead on the Catalyst team, you will lead a team of 2-4 developers to champion engineering excellence and facilitate cross-team collaboration across the organization. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll be actively involved in implementing solutions while guiding your team. You will play a pivotal part in driving the adoption of DevOps practices, ensuring the effectiveness of engineering initiatives. Your work will empower teams to own and deliver high-quality software efficiently and at scale, while providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic input to help shape the future of our engineering organization.
What you’ll do
Lead by example through hands-on technical contributions while mentoring a team of 2-4 developers
Champion and drive the adoption of “shift left” practices across our engineering teams
Act as the bridge between development teams and our Scale teams (Infrastructure, QA Analyst, QA Automation, and Tooling), keeping both accountable to each other’s commitments
Act as a forward observer for technical leadership and represent reality on the ground in technical leadership forums
Keep an eye out for developing patterns and ensure that new issues or needs find an owner
Provide hands-on technical coaching and mentorship
Onboard new hires into our environment
About you
You have 3+ years implementing and ensuring the adoption of “shift left” strategies across software engineering teams.
You demonstrate a deep understanding of DevOps practices, tools, and culture. You have real-world experience bringing those to software development teams.
You know how to act as the bridge between platform teams and development teams, keeping both accountable to their commitments.
You have good communication and storytelling skills, an ability to influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical functions, and you have an eye for identifying problems.
You have a demonstrable track record of building high-performing teams through mentoring, coaching, and hiring.
You have a fundamental understanding of Kubernetes and IaC tools like Terraform and Helm
Nice to have
Knowledge of modern web development frameworks (React, Node.js, Typescript) and API design.
Excellent grasp of AWS infrastructure and datastore offerings like S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and Elasticache.
