Bow Valley College is seeking a results-oriented, entrepreneurial Business Development Officer – Workforce Development to help drive our revenue growth and market expansion through innovation, strategy, and partnerships.
About the Role
As the Business Development Officer – Workforce Development, you’ll be at the forefront of identifying new markets, building meaningful client relationships, and translating insights into actionable strategies. Your work will directly influence Bow Valley College’s growth trajectory by developing high-value partnerships, generating net new revenue, and leading business development initiatives across local, national markets.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, you will play a central role in shaping how Bow Valley College engages with external stakeholders—especially businesses, government agencies, and community partners—while ensuring all efforts are aligned with our strategic objectives.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strategic Business Development & Market Intelligence
Uncover new revenue-generating opportunities by conducting in-depth market and competitive analysis.
Create and execute strategies to penetrate emerging markets and grow existing client accounts.
Develop business cases, pricing strategies, and sales proposals tailored to specific markets and sectors.
Build and nurture B2B relationships with clients and stakeholders across industries and geographies.
Represent Bow Valley College at conferences, events, and international business development forums.
Draft and negotiate contracts, MOUs, and service agreements with external partners.
Collaborate with marketing to design and launch campaigns that promote programs, services, and training solutions.
Engage in lead generation, prospecting, and sales funnel management to meet and exceed targets.
Provide compelling presentations that position Bow Valley College as an innovative and impactful partner.
Support the development of funding proposals and strategic partnerships aligned with workforce and industry trends.
Ensure accurate and consistent data tracking through the College’s CRM and reporting systems.
Internal Stakeholder Engagement
Work cross-functionally with academic departments and administrative teams to align business development strategies with college priorities.
Foster strong internal relationships to build a centralized and coordinated client engagement system.
Contribute to committees and internal initiatives to promote collaboration and insight-sharing across the institution.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in business development and sales.
Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset with strong strategic thinking, creativity, and adaptability.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities, client relationships, and high-value proposals.
Availability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven track record in B2B sales
Experience engaging with diverse cultural and community stakeholders.
Familiarity with post-secondary institutions, training services, or workforce development.
Deep understanding of market trends in industries aligned with Bow Valley College’s offerings.
If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
