POSITION GOAL:
In this leadership role, you will oversee the process planning team, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time, while leading continuous improvement efforts and supporting lean manufacturing. You will coordinate engineering changes, manage bills of materials, update labour standards, and work closely with departments like production, inventory, and purchasing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the local Process Planning department.
Manages Engineering Change Orders and Notices (ECOs and ECNs), Planning Change Requests (PCRs) & Engineering Authorized Deviations (EADs) for all products manufactured in the plant.
Ensures that component parts and sub-assemblies have appropriate routings, time estimates and costing roll-ups applied.
Ensures that Bills of Materials (BOMs) are interpreted and maintained correctly and costing roll-ups are applied.
Ensures standard hours are updated on an ongoing basis to build confidence in the labour standards.
Ensures that Planning Change Requests (RCR’s) are reviewed and completed in a timely manner as approved by the appropriate manufacturing engineering representative.
Ensures the on time and accurate completion of team’s deliverables.
Provides technical support and assists in the resolution of MRP processing errors.
Initiates process improvements in support of the strategic plan.
Ensures staff is adequately supporting the SWAT process, including participating in SWAT meetings and taking appropriate action to resolve open SWAT issues as required.
Maintains a valid standard ‘Routing Manual’ for routings and estimates.
Participates in make/buy analysis and reviews as required.
Provides bid and sales release customer request (SRCR) labour estimates as required.
Participates in virtual bus and new contract reviews as required.
Ensures process planning is fully supporting all lean manufacturing initiatives (such as 5S implementation, VSMs).
Promotes a team environment.
Supports the documentation and compliance of all department ISO processes.
Creates regular updates for the process planning manager related to process planning initiatives (as requested).
Supports manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, facilities and production engineering activities as required.
Education & Certifications:
Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent experience
APICS CPIM certification preferred
Lean Yellow Belt certification preferred
Supervisory training is an asset
Experience:
Proven experience supervising technical teams
Strong knowledge of labour/material planning in an MRP environment
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Oracle and Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with process planning tools and documentation standards
