The Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) is looking for someone to take on the role of Communications and Publications Coordinator at our office in Revelstoke, B.C.

Communications
Creates organization-aligned content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Responsible for creating and distributing monthly member emails and other email communications
Create graphics to support key messaging and organizational initiatives
Collaborate with internal teams to create content that supports organizational goals
Responsible for creating and updating content on the website
Coordinate and implement the communication plan and ensure timely delivery of assets
Maintain brand consistency and alignment with the communication strategy across all creative materials
Track communication performance and make improvements for higher engagement
Stay current on design trends, tools, and best practices
Manages image and design database
Publications
Responsible for the design and layout of our publication, The Avalanche Journal, distributed three times a year
Design engaging visual content for digital and print platforms (social media, website, email, publications, maunals, etc.)
Assist with layout and design of reports, key documents and presentations
Other Responsibilities:
Support Membership Services staff during peak periods and vacations, including assisting with member support, managing member benefits, and supporting membership applications and audits.
Serve a vital role in organizing and delivering the CAA Spring Conference, including coordinating logistics to support hybrid (in-person and online) attendance.
The Communications Coordinator is a vital part of the CAA team, we pride ourselves in offering a healthy work/life balance. The position will be based out of the Revelstoke office with the opportunity for hybrid working.
This position will be hired for a start date of approximately July 10.
This is a year-round position of approximately 18 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
Compensation: Wage range is $26.00 - $31.00 per hour based on experience.
Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, Design or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of formal post-secondary education.
Strong knowledge of running social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)
Knowledgeable with Canva and MailChimp
Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks
Proven experience in graphic design and content creation
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.)
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong competency with core Microsoft Office products
Experience with corporate computer networks, file structures, email, etc.
Excellent written and visual storytelling skills
Highly self-motivated and self-directed
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
Proven capacity for highly reliable and accurate performance
Professional
Clear criminal background check
Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
Additional desired qualifications:
Event coordinator experience
Experience hosting virtual events on Zoom
Knowledge of winter backcountry mountain recreation
CAA member in good standing
Ability to speak French
Familiarity with video editing, animation, and motion graphics is an asset
