Overview of the role: Saputo Dairy Products Canada is seeking a Dairy Product Development Senior Specialist for our Technical Service Department at our Port Coquitlam facility for a temporary fix-term contract of 18 months. The role entails providing technical support in process and product development, optimizing formulas, implementing processes, initiating cost reduction measures, optimizing performance, and conducting audits for continuous improvement. This position is a mix of office work, laboratory, pilot and manufacturing facility support, requiring varying degrees of travel. This can include extended periods of time at one location, as well as occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds, requiring general flexibility and mobility. Optimize both new and existing recipes and processes for cost-efficiency, improved product performance, and quality enhancement. Operate, maintain, and clean pilot equipment used for development purposes. Provide technical assistance to operations for troubleshooting and problem-solving. Conduct audits of recipes and processes to ensure they meet quality standards, performance targets, and raw material cost expectations. Drive product development and business growth by proposing new ideas and offering precise data analysis. Transfer knowledge pertaining to product and formulation improvements to Operations. Stay informed about industry trends and market conditions to promote continuous improvement. Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation related to projects and product development. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project execution, including providing support to Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Operations. You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications: Education: Post-secondary degree in Dairy Science or Food Science with an emphasis on dairy processing. Experience: 3 – 5 years, ideally within a Dairy or Research & Development setting. Comprehensive knowledge of dairy chemistry and dairy processing. Capability to utilize advanced technical expertise for development and troubleshooting. Strong organizational skills, multitasking abilities, analytical and critical thinking skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to connect with internal and external business partners. Exceptional time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills; ability to work well in a team or independently. The role requires schedule flexibility, including availability some nights and weekends, to accommodate time zones and travel requirements. Must possess a valid Driver’s License. High level of self-motivation and initiative. Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Genesis SQL is an asset. Strong knowledge of HACCP, GFSI, Food Safety, and Good Laboratory Practices.
