A reputable mining company has a great opportunity for a Global mobility tax specialist. You will be Reporting to the Manager, Payrolls, be responsible for the Canada, US and International cross border tax matters. This position will also conduct the initial research on tax and associated implications with regards to various jurisdictional compliance where the company operates, working collaboratively within the payroll team to support payroll tax matters. This position requires cooperation with third-party provider(s) that assists with tax calculations in various foreign jurisdictions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare various Canadian and US payroll related tax forms and waivers: certificate of coverages, tax number applications and TD4 forms, Regulation 102 and T1213 waiver applications;
Prepare monthly shadow payroll tax calculations as well as equity sourcing (PSU, RSU, RPU, DSU and Stock Options);
Research, coordinate, and implement payroll requirements for expatriate payrolls in new employment tax jurisdictions;
Respond to correspondence from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including notices, audits, and requests for information.
Reconciliation of payroll-related accounts including but not limited to pre and post year-end reconciliations;
Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends in global payroll management;
Collaborate with HR, accounting teams and external advisors to support global mobility functions and ensure jurisdictional payroll tax compliance;
Assist with internal and external audits and SOX compliance;
Cross-train payroll team members, focusing on tax knowledge transfer and professional development;
Ensure adherence to all company and payroll-related policies and procedures, and applicable tax laws;
Take on ad hoc projects based on business needs; and
Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, tax accounting or Business from a reputable university or college;
Minimum five years’ experience in a public accounting firm specializing in global mobility compliance expertise;
Experience working with international payroll service providers and managing relationships with external vendors;
Advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel skills including the ability to generate detailed reports;
Strong team spirit with collaborative and collective approach when it comes to “knowledge sharing,” experience working in matrix/complex/fast-paced environments and international settings is required;
Committed to life-long learning and professional improvement;
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing complex payroll tax scenarios across different jurisdictions with a focus on customer service;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Able to prioritize, adapt, and manage multiple priorities while adhering to strict deadlines;
Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders;
Able to work independently under minimum supervision;
Ability to understand/maintain confidentiality, strong work ethics, with a team-player mindset are imperative attributes.

we offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary commensurate with the. The base salary range for this position is CAD $95,000 - $115,000 per annum plus bonus
