Position Summary This position is responsible for, but not limited to, managing all aspects of sales in the province of Alberta and to carry out other duties as required. The Sales Specialist is responsible for driving three business imperatives: sales and margin growth, operational and service excellence and leadership and team development. The position requires the individual to work independently and as part of a team with occasional travel. The position also requires the ability to be able to perform under pressure to meet deadlines and demonstrate leadership. Job Duties Sales & Margin Growth Define, build, implement and monitor Sales Plan, including sales strategies, targets, and priorities Drive existing product promotion; recommend & grow new product offering opportunities & cross-selling Drive partnership service sales & develop customer relationships Create and execute a sales plan, while operating within the pricing structure outlined Conduct professional sales calls and serve as point of contact with key customers; develop relationships and participate in Regional Associations Actively participate in the use of sales tools including Salesforce & MITS Assist in addressing key customer complaints and settle customer grievances/claims within set rules Promote price capture & upsell to improve gross margins Develop & recommend pricing structure based on purchasing and market dynamics; recommend and implement price increases Communicate pricing levels, rebate and promotion programs within set rules Negotiate major project pricing discounts with vendors within set rules & price accordingly Maintain & develop business relationships with local vendor reps Manage & grow freight cost recovery though freight revenue Manage customer payments & credit in coordination with credit managers, including collections, credit recommendations, and AR adjustments within set rules Operational & Service Excellence Work with the Sales Director to define annual targets for existing accounts and define targets for prospecting Create action plans for defined sales targets and work with our suppliers to execute the plans Promote accuracy and service across all customer touchpoints Submit monthly expenses, mileage & quarterly vehicle inspections accurately and on time Promote professional, organized, & clean workspaces and yards Assist in addressing key customer complaints and settle customer grievances/claims within set rules Promote standard operating procedures and use of P21, Workday, MITS Reporting, Salesforce, and Connect systems Promote accuracy and service across all customer touch points Educate customers and staff on product; manage customer sample & educational stock levels Ensure customer and branch requests are completed in a timely manner Purchasing & Inventory Control Work with branch managers to: Assist the Branch to make informed inventory decisions by communicating current and future market needs. Suggest adequate inventory stock levels to service business needs & reduce stock outs Promote clean & diligent storage to reduce product damage & shrinkage Support return to vendor claims and deficient material switch out Achieve higher margins through vendor negotiations and buy participation Actively manage SLOB within set rules, and make other inventory recommendations Leadership & Team Development Assist with training and mentoring branch employees, provide PK sessions as required and work with the Sales Team on joint projects Work with the Sales Team to drive top lines sales and fulfill customer expectations Experience/Skills and other requirements Bachelor’s degree in international business and marketing or a related program 2+ years of experience working in construction sales, residential and/or commercial Proven knowledge in commercial/residential construction Previous experience in segment growth for both commercial and residential segments, is considered an asset Residential sales experience is considered an asset Roofing experience is considered an asset Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and take-off (familiar with AutoCad in previous positions) Proven knowledge of blueprints to be able to communicate specifications and quote jobs according to company standards Working knowledge of the following software: Salesforce Workday P21 MITS Reporting Connect Systems Microsoft Office – (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publishing, Outlook) AutoCad Must have valid driver’s license Exceptional oral and written communication skills Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Must be solutions and results-oriented with the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to provide excellent customer service Must be a team player with a positive attitude who is reliable, takes initiative and is organized Benefits Offered We offer a comprehensive benefits package including dental plan, disability benefits, health care plan, paramedical services, registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) with company match, free onsite parking, and mileage reimbursement.
