Working closely with the Environmental Manager and cross-functional teams, this role helps ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and territorial regulations, maintain ISO14001:2015 registration and contribute to continuous improvement in environmental initiatives. This role combines technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and analytical skills to mitigate risks and promote a culture of environmental responsibility within NAV CANADA. Contribute to the preparation of permitting materials, including applications and support documents for regulatory approvals. Provide technical input to project teams on environmental regulations, standards, and best practices. Develop, implement and monitor environmental compliance programs aligned with federal, provincial and/or territorial legislation requirements. Conduct regular inspections, audits and data reviews to ensure adherence to environmental requirements and prescribed mitigation measures. Gather and analyze environmental data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare various reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations and progress to Management and other relevant stakeholders. Uphold ISO14001:2015 conformance by tracking documentation, maintaining required records and participating in the audit process. Work with internal and external stakeholders to implement strategies that reduce environmental impact and address key environmental risks. Conduct initial research on emerging environmental technologies, legislation, and innovative approaches to support more sustainable operations. Assist in identifying and evaluating environmental risks and opportunities; recommending mitigation measures and track their effectiveness. Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into project planning and decision making. Present environmental topics to a wide range of audiences to educate stakeholders on environmental considerations on project development. Job Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree, from a recognized university, in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or another related field. Experience: 2+ years of experience in the environmental field with emphasis on analysis, auditing an ISO14001:2015 management system and compliance. Exposure to the environmental permitting process, Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, or project support in infrastructure or industrial settings. Experience interpreting and applying environmental legislation and best practices (Canadian federal, provincial and territorial). Knowledge Solid understanding of fundamental environmental legislation in Canada. Awareness of sustainability principles, risk management strategies and emerging environmental technologies. Familiarity of the ISO14001:2015 environmental management system. Proficiency with data collection, interpretation and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, GIS software). Knowledge of Phase I and II ESAs, Ecological Assessments and Hazardous Material Surveys. Abilities Capable of gathering and interpreting complex environmental data to draw actional insights. Thoroughly reviews permitting documentation, compliance requirements and project deliverables. Able to create clear, concise reports and presentation for diverse audiences. Balances multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Identifies potential environmental issues and recommends practical, evidence-based solutions.
