Position Summary
Faculty in the School of Health and Wellness are responsible for providing instruction to learners; evaluating learner progress, designing and developing curriculum and instructional materials, and supporting learners in meeting the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.
The Simulation Educator plays a key role in supporting experiential learning within the Practical Nurse Program by facilitating high-quality, realistic clinical simulations. Working collaboratively with faculty and simulation lab staff, this position is responsible for facilitating simulation-based learning experiences that enhance students’ clinical judgment, critical thinking, and practical nursing skills. The Simulation Educator will guide learners through scenario-based activities using multiple simulation modalities including task trainers, high fidelity mannequins, virtual reality and screen-based simulations. Responsibilities include scenario preparation, pre-briefing, facilitation, debriefing, and maintaining a psychologically safe learning environment.
Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Provides Quality Instruction in Courses as Assigned
Facilitates simulation sessions as
Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages active participation and student
Assists in the development of simulation scenarios
Leads structured pre-briefing and de-briefing according to best practices in simulation pedagogy
Provides structured feedback to learners to support skill development and reflective practice
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in simulation pedagogy.
Develops and update simulation curriculum, guides and scenarios as requested by Program
Evaluates learner performance on an ongoing basis and provides learners and administrators with learner progress
Maintains official records as
Provides instruction in a variety of simulation modalities.
Provides a Positive Learning Experience for Learners
Supports learners regarding issues (for example: attendance; conduct, performance).
Identifies areas of concern and refer to the Program Chair if follow up is
Refers learners to other institutional supports as required (for example: tutoring, counseling).
Builds and Maintains Relationship with Internal and External Stakeholders and promote the Department and the College
Keeps current regarding changes in best practice and adapts curriculum as requested by program chair.
Assists with articulation and transfer activity for learners as
Meets with industry stakeholders.
Attends external community meetings.
Participates in recruitment events as schedule permits.
Other Duties /Special Projects
Follows College Policies and procedures.
Completes any professional development requirements (for example: D2L; Agresso Student Module training, Instructional Skills Training, FOIP).
Ability and willingness to participate in applied research.

Required qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor in Nursing is required
Minimum of 4 years of current practice experience
CLPNA License without restriction
CRNA Practice Permit without restriction
CPR Health Care Provider Level
Up to date immunization records
Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector
Ability to work to full scope of practice
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
