Join our team today!Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for providing quality patient centred care focused nursing care to patients admitted to Functional Enhancement Service. As part of the inter-professional health care team, the RN will practice according to the nursing practice expectations set by Osler, the regulatory practice standards of the College of Nurses and the legislative requirements set by the Regulated Health Professions Act.Accountabilities:Safe nursing practice in all aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient careAccurate and timely documentationCompliance with policies and procedures associated with observationsProviding professional, patient-centred care to promote patient safety as well as physiological and psychological well-beingProviding care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environmentAdhering to the infection control and prevention measuresResponding to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient's health status and consulting team members appropriatelyParticipating in transfer of accountability at the beginning and end of all shiftsProviding health teaching to patients and families to ensure a smooth and safe transition in to the communityQualificationsMinimum of one year experience within the last five years with rehabilitation and geriatric patient populationsRelated experience working with rehabilitation and geriatric patients requiredExperience with G-tubes, wound care, IV therapy and enteral feedingFunctional Independence Measure certification is required within the first six monthsCNA certifications in gerontological nursing or rehabilitation nursing preferredCore competencies:Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of OntarioSound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing professionBCLS preferredDemonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution and decision-making skillsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional teamDemonstrated ability to incorporate inter-professional recommendation into patient care practicesDemonstrated knowledge of patient and family-centred careDemonstrated experience with patient and family health teachingDemonstrated leadership and facilitation skillsDemonstrated excellent customer service, organizational and critical-thinking skillsDemonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development as it applies to the profession and related fieldDemonstrated ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environmentAbility to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisionsExcellent physical assessment skills requiredAbility to promote a healthy work environmentKnowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety ActMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, CollaborationMay be required to travel and work between all Osler sitesExcellent attendance, punctuality and work recordKnowledge and understanding of information systems and technologyAdditional InformationHours: Currently Days/Nights, 8 and 12 hours shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)Salary:
