ROLE SUMMARY This is a unique opportunity for a paralegal or experienced compliance specialist with demonstrated project management skills to work on Labatt’s Ethics and Compliance team in a dynamic, collaborative and fast-paced organization. You will work within the Legal and Corporate Affairs team out of Toronto and have exposure to AB InBev’s Global and North American compliance colleagues, resources and tools. Under the supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel (Regulatory and Internal Compliance), you will have primary responsibility to administer Labatt’s Ethics and Compliance program in Canada. The current scope of this role supports also all aspects of our Ethics and Compliance and Digital Ethics programs in Canada, but the scope of responsibility may change over time in response to business needs and program modifications. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Ethics and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing all routine aspects of Labatt’s Ethics and Compliance program, including generating presentations; monitoring and administering internal controls relating to Ethics and Compliance; managing conflict of interest; and developing training materials to support program deliverables related to Code of Business Conduct awareness, policy compliance, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, and other internal policies and procedures; reviewing, updating and communicating local and Global compliance policies; answering routine questions and requests regarding Ethics and Compliance policies and procedures; building materials to report to Labatt’s Ethics and Compliance Committee on our compliance program on a quarterly basis; Developing an annual training and communication plan that reflects business risks and objectives for cascading internal policy requirements; leveraging reporting tools to track and monitor privacy-relevant projects from Labatt’s marketing and human resources teams, including proper implementation of privacy impact assessments; Under the supervision of Labatt’s Marketing Compliance Manager, support Labatt’s marketing team to ensure that any privacy-relevant activations comply with Labatt’s internal standards and privacy policy; working closely with other members of the Legal team on a variety of compliance-related matters and maintaining documentation and approvals related to policy compliance. Additional technical, legal / regulatory research, project management, process improvement, compliance and / or administrative duties as assigned. You will also have an opportunity to act as project manager, with the support of Senior Legal Counsel and other members of the Legal and Corporate Affairs team, for special projects, step-up initiatives and the continuous improvement of the Ethics and Compliance and Digital Ethics programs. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Qualities: We are looking for highly diligent, self-motivated and detail-oriented person who is open to learning and developing new skills in a fast-paced work environment. We value a demonstrated ability to plan and deliver on complex projects, while managing day-to-day responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, an ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines and will bring client-service approach in working with colleagues of all levels in diverse areas of a large organization, including senior management and executives. Education and Experience: Candidates are expected to have an undergraduate degree in addition to completed role-related studies or work experience. Strong candidates will also have a degree, diploma, certification, or commensurate experience in ethics, compliance, law clerk or paralegal studies, and / or compliance project management. Experience with data privacy and/or working with ethics and compliance programs in a regulated industry or within a Global company is an asset. Law degree and/or license to practice law would be an asset but not required. Technical Skills: The successful candidate must be proficient with MS Office applications with emphasis on PowerPoint, but including Word, Forms and Excel. Comfort learning new applications and being generally tech-savvy is necessary for this role. French-language proficiency would be an asset. Transferable Skills: Demonstrated, strong project management skills are critical; oral and written communication; organized approach to problem solving and decision-making; ability to work in cross-functional, client-focused, and team-based environment; time-management; attention to detail; willingness to learn new areas of compliance; willingness to grow in role and take on increasing levels of responsibility, accountability, and leadership; ability to bring new ideas, new ways-of-working, and innovative approaches to challenges and opportunities in an evolving environment.
