Manitoulin’s command of the transportation industry, together with its progressive technology, innovative equipment fleet and cross Canada locations can ship your world confidently.Job DescriptionPreparation, review and analysis of financial and other key performance reports distributed to middle and senior management.Responsible for preparation, or review of, monthly financial reporting of subsidiary companies.Preparation of yearend working papers, including some participation in review of files and interaction with the external audit team.Review of junior or intermediate workAnalytical review of results and development of new reports as required.May be required to plan and implement process changes to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy. This could involve research, presenting findings and ultimately training of accounting staff or performing internal audits on current procedures. Work with a divisional controller on projects such as the integration of newly acquired subsidiariesMay be required to deal with professionals external to the company - bankers, tax auditors, government officials, suppliers, external auditorsCross train on multiple positions within the accounting department to maximize knowledge base. Depending on department needs, specialization in a particular area may be the focus, for example internal audit.Overtime may be required at month ends and necessary at year end.Respect and adherence to confidentiality of information.QualificationsHold a professional accounting designation (CPA).Minimum of 5 years experience in financial accounting.Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel and other windows based applications is required.Ability to work independently, use critical thinking, problem solve, and collaborateBasic understanding of multiple software and operating systems, dependent upon assigned company files. Includes but not limited to, AS400, Infinium, Enrich, Acellos, Cargowise.Basic understanding and interaction with other departments within the company regarding information flow to accounting.Familiarity with corporate and provincial taxes is an asset.Familiarity with internal control frameworks is an asset.Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and work under pressure to meet multiple tight deadlines in a demanding fast paced environment is required.Additional InformationWhat do we offer to you?
