About the role The Payroll Supervisor oversees and manages all aspects of payroll processing, including the supervision of payroll staff. The ideal candidate is proactive, solutions-oriented, proficient in Workday, has good Excel skills, and a strong understanding of payroll compliance. What you’ll do here Manage, supervise, and mentor a payroll administrator. Oversee the bi-weekly processing of payroll for over 800 employees in Quebec and Canada combined, ensuring full cycle completion. Oversee and carry out payroll processing tasks in Workday to ensure precise payroll calculations and uphold the integrity of payroll data and related records. Audit processes for new hires, employee changes, leaves, and terminations in Workday. Validate that all employees have submitted their timesheet. Validate that supervisors have approved all timesheets for their employees. Oversee and follow-up with employees and supervisors for missing time sheets that have either not been approved or that have been approved in error. Oversee and follow up with staff for missing project codes or activities codes. Act as a point of contact for any payroll-related questions or requests and handle them accurately and in a timely manner. Remit RRSP and DPSP funds to company custodian. Audit our Service Canada Records of Employment (terminations, leaves and others). Oversee and reconcile tax filing with our third-party compliance partner OneSource Virtual (OSV). Participate in reviewing and ensuring compliance with payroll procedures in accordance with local regulations. Researching best practices to identify new payroll processes and policies, including preparation of payroll documentation. Participate in various payroll audits. Manage the year-end process of providing accurate tax statements to governments and employees Provide remittance details for contract workers who are not incorporate to accounts payable. Consolidate T4A’s from Accounts Payable into overall T4 filing. What you’ll need to succeed Bachelor’s degree or other relevant training. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Canadian payroll processing and supervision. Experience with Workday ERP is required. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written. Canadian Payroll Association certification; PCP/SCP an asset. General understanding of accounting principles as it relates to payroll and compensation. Great organizational skills and ability to do follow-ups. Honesty, discretion and responsible. Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve situations in a timely manner. Must possess strong client services and interpersonal skills. Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities. Fluency in English is an essential requirement for the position of Payroll Supervisor including, but not limited to, for the following reasons: The requirement to have study protocols, designs and clinical research documents written and documented in English as required by industry regulatory agencies. The employee communicates frequently with Altasciences employees across Canada and the United States. As such, English is the main language used to correspond between offices.
