Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Risk Advisory team in the Office of the Chief Risk Officer is looking for a CO-OP Student to assist with the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Risks across Metrolinx and support a strong risk culture. The CO-OP Student will work with internal partners to provide analytical support in the completion of required tasks and deliverables. You will report to the Senior Manager, Risk Advisory.
What will I be doing?
Provides a variety of administrative and/or technical services to support the business which may include: preparing reports, memos, meeting minutes, documents; maintains and updates electronic filing systems; provides record management services
Assists in the development and facilitation of risk workshops and discussions with client groups across Metrolinx
Develops spreadsheets, forms, and databases to input, track, store and retrieve data
Supports in the development and rollout of online training modules and other tools to promote a stronger risk culture in the organization
Recommends improvements to existing processes and procedures to achieve greater efficiency
Support the Office of the Chief Risk Officer in performing analysis and presentation of information on risks in the electronic risk tracking system
Work with internal and external partners to collect data, respond to queries and exchange information
Provide assistance and support to staff in a variety of areas, including gathering, inputting, organizing, and interpreting data for reports/presentations/meetings/projects

Prepare agendas, coordinate, attend, and take minutes for daily technical/operational meetings
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
Enrolled in Finance, Project Management, Operations Management, Human Resources, Communications, or IT programs at a post-secondary institution
Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are required
Experience in designing and creating online educational tools would be considered an asset
Competence in software such as Microsoft Office suite
Experience with LEAN methodologies and mindset would be considered an asset
Be a self-starter with excellent work ethic and a continuous improvement mindset
Previous experience working within a business environment is preferred
A willingness to learn while being exposed to all aspects of theory, principles and practices of risk management
Ability to work with and assist other co-workers with various projects
