Location: Montreal Neurological Institute The Laboratory of Brain and Cognition at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University is looking to hire a Research Associate. The Research Associate will work in collaboration with the Research Supervisor (Principal Investigator Nathan Spreng) to develop and conduct cognitive neuroscience research projects, and is responsible for achieving the project’s objectives. As required, the Research Associate is responsible for the functional supervision of laboratory support personnel including Laboratory Technicians and/or graduate and undergraduate Research Assistants. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE: Developing and conducting cognitive neuroscience research projects and protocols, including advanced, multimodal neuroimaging techniques, approaches and analyses as delegated by the Research Supervisor. Establishes the design and development of research methods focused on advanced, multimodal neuroimaging data collection and analysis, and the interpretation of results. Plans and leads the development of cognitive neuroscience experiments, including studies of individual and group differences, and leading on all aspects of research administration including, laboratory operating procedures, data analysis, compilation, storage, quality, and security protocols. Develops and implements new methods of analysis or research including integration of multimodal neuroimaging data (e.g. structural and functional MRI, magnetoencephalography, PET imaging) and integration with behavioural and genetic data. Leads the analysis and interpretation of research data and disseminates the results. Writes research reports. Writes theoretical or methodological reports, papers or articles related to research activities. Prepares and writes grant applications. Responsible for the quality and results of their own work and the work of those they oversee. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of research staff and participates in their training, including Research Assistants and Undergraduate/Graduate Student Research Assistants. Performs various administrative tasks related to research projects. May also perform tasks of Research Assistants as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possesses advanced specialized knowledge in psychology and/or neuroscience acquired through PhD Degree, with specialization in advanced neuroimaging, cognitive neuroscience, and imaging-based disease biomarker development. At least two years of post-doctoral training in advanced neuroimaging (structural, functional, multimodal) and neuroimaging-derived disease biomarkers.
