Position Summary: Assist in the preparation of an Arabic critical edition of two Arabic-Islamic logic texts, one medieval, and the other modern: al-S?w?’s (d. ca. 1170) Insights into the Science of Logic, for Na??r [al-D?n] (al-Ba???ir al-Na??riyyah f? ?Ilm al-Man?iq); and Mu?ammad ?Abduh’s (d. 1905) Glosses (Ta?l?q?t) on S?w?’s Insights. Assist in the preparation of an English translation of S?w?’s Insights and ?Abduh’s Glosses. Assist in the preparation of a philological-historical and source-critical introduction to the Arabic critical edition of S?w?’s Insights and ?Abduh’s Glosses. Assist in the preparation of a philosophical commentary on the English translation of S?w?’s Insights and ?Abduh’s Glosses. Qualifications: Required Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as History of Arabic Science, Philosophy and/or Logic. Advanced knowledge of Arabic paleography and codicology. Experience in editing post-classical Arabic manuscripts in the rational sciences (ma?q?l?t) using currently available digital tools. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
