About Your New Role: Reporting to the Superintendent, Safety, the Emergency Response Specialist, will be responsible for assessing the site emergency preparedness program to identify opportunities for improvement, communicating these to the site stakeholders and completing the approved items. Due to Seabee being an underground operation this will include both underground and surface response activities. Your Key Responsibilities: Evaluate current emergency preparedness programs for both underground and surface response and perform gap analysis as compared to SSRM standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Develop and coordinate site training opportunities for all levels of response including the incident management team, instructors, and the responders. Create action plans following gap analysis to ensure all required improvements are tracked to completion. Revise all current documentation with respect to emergency preparedness to ensure compliance to SSRM standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Working closely with Safety department to ensure all training requirements are identified and met. Ensure upkeep of the preventative maintenance program, coordination of maintenance schedules to reduce downtime while maintaining health and safety standards and troubleshooting process maintenance issues. Responsible for compiling daily reports to reflect accurate record of work performed as well as cross shift notes to ensure smooth transition between contracts. Your Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate a drive, self-motivated and passionate approach to the health & safety profession. Strong leadership, management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential. Your Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have: Experience in Emergency preparedness. Underground mine rescue experience is an asset. Previous experience in an underground mine setting. About Our Working Conditions: This position has a schedule of one (1) week on, one (1) week off at our remote camp in northern Saskatchewan, working 11-hour days with possibility of unscheduled overtime required on occasion. You will be required to fly in fly out of the site on designated days from a pick-up point in either Saskatoon, Prince Albert or La Ronge.
