Job Overview
As a member of the Meaty Eats Retail Team and the Food Service industry. Chefs are responsible for the preparation, cooking, and packaging of all food products according to Meaty Eats’ specifications. They are team players who can communicate clearly while working in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail, and are reliable individuals who can produce consistent results regularly.
The ideal candidate will:
Have food industry experience, preferably in an industrial food service kitchen setting.
Be detail-oriented and able to execute recipes and work instructions
Be in good physical health with the ability to stand for the majority of the shift and lift to 50 Lbs.
Display excellent written and verbal communication skills in a culturally diverse work environment.
Demonstrate tact and professionalism in all work functions.
Be adaptable, open to change, and team-oriented.
High level of ethics, values, integrity, and trust.
Main Duties
Follow opening and closing procedures.
Plan/follow daily production goals while monitoring expenses (shrink).
Execute work plan using Meaty Eats recipes and document any changes.
Managing and scheduling support staff following company processes and workflow.
Order product through approved company processes and manage quality and consistency.
Manage the general execution and process of the required work.
Ensure prepared foods are packaged according to standards.
Clean and organize the kitchen at all times. Follow all required checklists and cleaning schedules, ensuring standards are maintained while observing all food safety rules and regulations.
Adhere to outlined healthy and safety procedures.
Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the kitchen and retail store staff.
As the subject matter expert, assist customers as required with meal planning ideas and other suggestions to drive customer loyalty.
Help train retail store associates on products, including talking points, to assist in delivering a world-class shopping experience.
Communicate courteously and effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Other duties as required.
Requirements
Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen.
High school diploma and/or adequate math and English skills (oral, reading, writing) are required.
Culinary education/management considered an asset.
A passion for cooking and producing a quality, nutritious product every day.
A passion for food and teaching associates and customers how to make healthy food choices
Prioritize and manage time efficiently.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Proven leadership abilities.
Health-conscious.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
Strong command of Food Safety and Food hygiene.
