Be a key player in the protection and enjoyment of Gatineau Park, the capital’s conservation park. As an Information Officer, your primary role is to provide accurate information regarding the Park (and other tourist attractions), to suggest routes or activities to visitors and to be a champion of the park’s conservation mission.
The mobile Information Officer works at varying locations within Gatineau Park. The incumbent provides information and orientation to visitors regarding various Park activities, sites and regulations, specifically related to the Fall Rhapsody program. The program takes place on weekends during the Fall.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants must have completed secondary education and must be enrolled in a post-secondary program in the Fall of 2025;
• Applicants must be fluently bilingual, in both official languages.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
• Have strong interpersonal communication skills both in individual or group exchanges;
• Have relevant experience in working with the public in the areas of client or information services or tourism;
• Have good knowledge of the Gatineau Park and of the National Capital Region as a tourism destination; and
• Have knowledge of the NCC’s mandate and activities.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Must be available up to 22.5 hours per week as this position requires to be part time;
• Must be willing to work from September 2nd to October 31st every weekend and civic holidays for the duration of the contract; this also includes Thanksgiving long weekend.
• Must wear a uniform which will be provided by the NCC;
• Must be disposed to work outside in varying weather conditions;
• Must attend mandatory paid training sessions for Information Officers at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre; and
• Must arrange for their own means of transportation to their assigned work location, within Gatineau Park. Public transportation is not available.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Project Officer of Sustainable transportation, the Information Officer:
• Welcomes and informs visitors about the different activities taking place during the Fall Rhapsody weekends, including regular programs, services and points of interest in Gatineau Park;
• Provide information regarding different road closures throughout the event;
• Answers information requests received by the visitors;
• Provide wayfinding information within the Park;
• Collects visitor comments and suggestions; and
• Contributes to the services evaluation by suggesting modifications or improvements to the activities, exhibits, program material or other.
