Our facility in Mississauga, ON is looking for a Sanitation Supervisor to join our team!
Location: Mississauga, ON.
Shift: Flexibility required to work all shifts or various shifts
Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sanitation Responsibilities
Oversee daily sanitation activities across all production areas to ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, and company standards.
Develop, implement, and update SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and verify adherence.
Schedule and supervise cleaning tasks, including deep cleaning of equipment, silos, proofers, drains, and high-care areas.
Conduct pre-operational inspections to validate cleanliness and sanitation effectiveness before production starts.
Monitor chemical usage, ensure proper dilution and safe handling, and track inventory to control cost and prevent shortages.
Collaborate with QA and Maintenance to address sanitation-related non-conformances and corrective actions.
Train and mentor sanitation team members on safe and effective cleaning practices.
Maintain sanitation logs and records to support audit readiness (BRC, internal, customer).
Coordinate with contractors for specialized sanitation (e.g., heat treatment, mold remediation).
Identify and resolve sanitation-related issues proactively, including pest activity, allergen control, and cross-contamination risks
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead by example by demonstrating a strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to food safety and sanitation standards.
Provide clear direction and set performance expectations for sanitation team members.
Develop and maintain a positive team environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Identify training needs and facilitate ongoing development and cross-training opportunities for sanitation staff.
Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, communicate updates, and address concerns proactively.
Recognize and reward individual and team achievements to boost morale and motivation.
Handle conflict resolution professionally and foster open communication within the team.
Track efficiencies to attain and exceed budget targets.
Maintain cost effective weekly sanitation labour requirements based on projected volumes and historical records while tweaking requirements as needed.
Provide strong coaching and leadership to develop sanitation team.
Inspire, coach, develop and engage the team to work collaboratively; to create and drive a culture that motivates them to collectively achieve the business goals.
Exercise corrective action where needed such as disciplinary action, if necessary.
Maintain strong cross function relationships with the leadership team, corporate sanitation and food safety teams.
Play an active role in internal, customer and annual audits.
Support swabbing and QA activities as directed by the QA lead.
Supports as a back-up to Production as required.All other duties as assigned:
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years of sanitation leadership in a food manufacturing environment.
Post secondary education (College or University degree in Science preferred).
Knowledge and experience about the sanitation process, cleaning chemistry, chemical storage, handling and dispensing systems and sanitary design principles.
Continuous improvement mindset and passionate about sanitation and understands its importance to safety and quality of manufactured food products.
Knowledge of HAACP/FSMA, GMP standards, WHMIS, First aid, Food safety, Basic Food Microbiology, Lock Out and Tag Out, and knowledge of the Occupational Health and safety act.
Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint.
Strong, professional written and oral communications.
Able to work in cold, hot, humid or wet manufacturing environment conditions, work with chemical and stand/walk regularly.
Experience in creating and developing a strong team environment.
Excels at providing proper guidance, direction, feedback and recognition to the team.
Ability to lead and embrace changes as needed.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills.
Extremely well organized, results driven and pro-active in follow-up.
Excellent multi-tasker that can handle pressure with ease.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle confidential matters including information.
Ability to interact well in plant environments.
