Recently released projects include John Wick: Chapter 4, Black Adam, Disney's The Little Mermaid, and Love, Death and Robots Volume 3, for which the company won a 2023 VES award.Job DescriptionThe Matchmove Lead plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and continuity of 3D scenes by faithfully reconstructing camera-captured movement. As both an artistic and technical reference within the department, they support the quality of deliverables, guide artists on the team, and collaborate with other departments to provide a solid foundation for visual integration. While responsible for mentoring and oversight, the Lead remains a hands-on expert, capable of delivering complex scenes with rigor, autonomy, and excellence.Key Responsibilities:Creative QualitySupport artists in understanding the director’s intent and the visual constraints specific to each shot.Propose simple and effective solutions to overcome missing data or complex plate challenges.Actively participate in dailies to ensure natural, seamless, and consistent camera motion across sequences.Technical QualityOversee the quality of delivered scenes, ensuring accurate, stable, and pipeline-compliant tracking.Identify recurring issues (slipping, offsets, jitter) and share robust troubleshooting strategies.Document best practices, structure scenes properly, and ensure adherence to studio technical standards.Leadership & CommunicationMentor artists with clarity and care, communicate show directives, and support technical growth.Lead team briefings, track shot progress, and maintain a clear and open flow of information.Work with Production to adjust priorities, assess workloads, and flag potential roadblocks.
Departmental SupportParticipate in onboarding new team members and provide technical mentorship.Create reference scenes or clear documentation to support the adoption of efficient methodologies.Contribute to mid-show evaluations by offering informed feedback on artists’ strengths and areas for growth.OptimisationImprove scene setups, streamline files, and reduce processing times without compromising tracking precision.Help develop templates or tools specific to matchmove workflows.Identify recurring workflow pain points and propose concrete improvements to the technical team.QualificationsMinimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in matchmove or tracking within a VFX environmentAdvanced proficiency with 3DEqualizer and Maya; working knowledge of NukeStrong understanding of camera principles, cinematography, and 3D reconstructionProven ability to mentor peers while maintaining personal excellence in deliveryNatural leadership, discipline, efficiency, active listening, and composure under pressureFunctional knowledge of ShotGridAsset: Experience in basic geometry creation or 3D reconstruction from reference dataAsset: Scripting knowledge (Python, MEL) to automate or optimize tasksAsset: Contribution to pipeline documentation or internal technical training initiativesAdditional Information3.5 months Temporary contrat with possible extension.
