Here's the Scoop – Summary The Quality Assurance Supervisor provides support to ensure that the quality standards, practices, and procedures of the Company meet and comply with existing relevant legislation, regulations, and customer specifications. The Quality Assurance Supervisor is directly responsible for providing support and guidance to the QA technicians. The Quality Assurance Supervisor works out of our Acheson Operations Office and Kitchens, and reports to the Manager, QA. What a typical day looks like: Ensures compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard audit requirements (i.e. SQF/ FSSC certification) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles Supervise the work of quality personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, ensures reliability of testing procedures, proper function of laboratory equipment. Reviews, approves and reports corrective action plans for resolution of non-conformance reports also monitors and conducts internal audits to verify compliance and validation of established program requirements based on risks. Design work schedules for direct reports to maintain efficiencies and recommendations for continuous improvement. Provides support for investigating food safety and quality assurance complaints and claims Responsible for developing training materials and providing training for plant associate’s in food safety systems including HACCP, GFSI, GMPs etc. Develop & maintain policies and SOP’s to follow regulatory and/or external food safety certification requirements, changes in processes/equipment, and/or facility/corporate direction including export and import market requirements Takes on new projects or duties and follows thru their completion, integrating and consulting different departments such as operations, QA, maintenance etc. Provides vacation support for the other QA supervisors/ shifts. What are we looking for? University degree in a Food science, or related scientific field Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a QA environment Knowledge and understanding of QA regulations and QA methodologies Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents, and to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills, as well as effective time management skills High degree of attention to detail and accuracy, a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability, with demonstrated applicable ethics and due diligence qualities Self-directed, capable of multi-tasking, detail-oriented, analytical thinking abilities, and strong problem identification and problem resolution skills Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with diverse individuals/groups Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour and to interface directly and successfully with cross-functional teams Ability to train and/or mentor others Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand and follow written and oral instruction Working Conditions: Work environment is in a pet food production facility office; the position works both in the office and production facility, with exposure to dust, noise, odours, and fluctuating temperatures Some travel may required Ability to attend and conduct presentations Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals Working hours are Monday to Friday, 2:00pm. to 10:30 p.m, flexibility to cover other shifts is required.
