Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 08/18/2025 About this opportunity: The Data and AI Governance Specialist is a strategic role responsible for developing and implementing governance frameworks that ensure data and AI assets are managed ethically, securely, and in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory mandates. This role serves as a critical bridge between technical, policy, and business domains, embedding governance practices across structured and unstructured data ecosystems as well as AI systems. What you’ll do: Develop and enhance the data governance framework, defining roles, responsibilities, and accountability with data owners and stewards across the enterprise Lead enterprise-wide data quality, policy enforcement, and regulatory compliance initiatives, while maintaining the data catalogue and business glossary Contribute to the deployment of AI governance frameworks that provide guidance on the ethical deployment of AI systems Collaborate with the AI Steering Committee, Working Group, and Centre of Excellence to embed governance checkpoints and conduct risk assessments for AI use cases Champion data and AI literacy through targeted training programs and awareness initiatives, acting as a liaison among data owners, stewards, business leaders, and technical teams Deliver regular updates to executive leadership on governance goals, maturity assessments, and strategic roadmap progress. Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Law, or a related field Minimum 12 years of experience in data governance, data privacy, compliance, or AI risk management Deep understanding of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM Knowledge of AI governance principles, risk management methodologies, and ethical considerations Proficiency in regulatory frameworks including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI legislation (e.g., EU AI Act) Professional certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), CIPT, or AI governance credentials (e.g., IEEE, IAPP, ISO) are considered an asset We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
