Key Qualifications:
Current medication certification and recent (5-10 years) surgical RPN experience required
Current Physical Assessment course is required.
Recent 5 years' experience within a general surgical area is required.
Current BCLS and evidence of continuing education is required
Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional able to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position; performing substantial walking, standing, lifting, twisting and bending as required for patient care and other responsibilities
Must be willing and able to successfully complete the Hand splinting certification required, following orientation to unit.
Positive attendance and work record essential
Position Summary:
As an active member of an interdisciplinary Surgical clinic team is responsible for the delivery of client-centred nursing services for assigned patients including data collection, nursing assessment, assisting with surgical procedures, patient/family education, support and evaluation
Contributes to the development of a realistic discharge plan
Participates in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation
