Security Department The Security Department for Vantage Data Centers is very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so that we can make informed purchase decisions. Vantage Security Department also participates in designing each of our new data center building’s security infrastructure. Position Overview This role is on-site in Montréal (Pointe-Claire), QC. The Manager of Tech Ops is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding a team of Technicians in the execution of security focused initiatives across Vantage’s data center operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring system uptime, performance, and operational excellence by applying reliability engineering principles and supporting the implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. The Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive improvements and ensure consistency in reliability practices. Essential Job Functions Lead a team of Technicians in the day-to-day execution of reliability programs and initiatives. Support the implementation of reliability strategies that align with organizational goals and operational needs. Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Construction teams to ensure reliability considerations are integrated into facility design and maintenance planning. Oversee the execution of root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and other troubleshooting tools to identify and address system vulnerabilities. Monitor system performance using data analytics and reliability metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements. Ensure team adherence to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements related to reliability and maintenance. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to support reliability initiatives and ensure quality of service. Contribute to the development and standardization of security engineering processes across multiple sites. Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to team members to build technical and leadership capabilities. Prepare and present operational updates and reliability reports to senior leadership as needed. Handle additional duties as assigned by Management. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical, or a related field, required. 5+ years of experience managing security systems, required 5+ years of experience with Access Control Systems (ACS), Video Surveillance System (VSS) required In-depth, hands-on expertise with all low-voltage security technologies (CCTV, access control, IP networking and structured cabling Experience designing security systems for new buildings or facilities, to include placement of access control systems, cameras, and call buttons Project management experience managing large scale projects with multiple deadlines and stakeholders Experience leading or supervising technical teams in an engineering or operations setting. Working knowledge of security engineering principles and tools Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present technical information clearly. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and foster a team-oriented environment. Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 365 Working knowledge of networking concepts (IP addresses, MAC addresses) Genetec certification highly desired or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire Experience with Traka Systems Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required Able to plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate internally with team members as well as externally with vendors and other service providers.
