Company: Finning Canada Number of Openings: 2 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: As an Accounting Analyst I for Finning Canada, you will play an critical role in developing and improving accounting processes with an emphasis on efficiency and reliable controls. The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain and analyze specific segments of the balance sheet and income statement, providing value-added reporting to support decision making across the business. Additionally, this role is responsible for the application of accounting principles and practices in maintaining and updating financial records within the accounting systems in adherence with IFRS reporting standards. The individual will have experience with financial analysis and data validation. Job Description: Major Job Functions: Month-end close and Reconciliation (55%): Prepare selected monthly/quarterly and ad-hoc journal vouchers with intermediate levels of complexity based on nature of accounts and/or dollar value Identify, analyze and reconcile inconsistent information and recommend adjustments where necessary Internal & External Audit (20%): Collaborate closely with the auditors to provide requested financial information and supporting documents in a timely manner. Support junior staff with more complicated audit requests and act as back-up for coverage when needed Participate walkthroughs or testing procedures required by the auditors. Analysis & Projects (10%): Assist with ad-hoc projects, such as system implementations or process improvements; conduct financial analysis for business decision-making as directed by manager Process Review & Improvement (10%): Evaluate and drive accounting process improvements, while working with cross-functional teams to improve associated processes across the business. Perform complex financial analysis, including: conducting research, identifying gaps in processes and results, designing and implementing solutions to support reporting and analysis requirements. Review financial operating results to identify key trends, variances, and provide commentary to the financial reporting team.
