Our Ideal Candidate
We’re looking to grow our Environmental team with two intermediate-level Environmental Monitors who thrive in field-based roles and bring hands-on experience with civil construction and earthworks. You'll be key in ensuring environmental compliance across our projects in Alberta and BC, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, responsible infrastructure work. Your ability to monitor, communicate, and act decisively in the field will help maintain environmental integrity while supporting client goals.
A Day in the Life
Monitoring construction work activities as they relate to environmental protection, including the implementation of environmental protection plans
Collaborating with construction teams to follow mitigation measures and permit requirements
Implementing and maintaining erosion and sediment control (ESC)
Monitoring and collecting water quality and soil samples
Supporting pre-construction bird nest sweeps, fish and amphibian salvage programs
Maintaining accurate field notes and contributing to technical reports
Preparing daily and weekly summary reports
Attending project and safety meetings
Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors
What You’ll Bring to the Team
2+ years of relevant experience in environmental monitoring for construction projects
Strong technical documentation and communication skills
Registration with a professional regulatory body is an asset
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulators, and co-workers
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Detail oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
Willing to work on a shift rotation
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote sites
