Manual Large Lathe / Horizontal Boring Milling Machinist
1 Position - DAY SHIFT 6 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Thursday
Duties & Responsibilities:
Set up the machine/lathe by using proper tools and the most efficient techniques
Work on a large manual lathe (bigger than 35” OD), approximately 80% of the time, with tight tolerances (0.001”)
Work on a Horizontal Boring Milling Machine approximately 20% of the time
Ensure the work area is kept clean and safe from hazards
Maximize the efficiency of production
Keep the machine in good working order through scheduled preventative maintenance
Understand the principles of ISO
Protect self and others by following the Company Health and Safety Policies and Practices
Other functions that may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
General Machinist Ticket preferred
Min. 7-8 years’ experience with manual engine lathe
Technical/Mechanical troubleshooting skills
Blueprint reading and familiar with GDT
Strong knowledge of all measuring tools (micrometres, inside gauges, pie tapes)
Must be able to work shiftwork
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Large lathe, horizontal boring mill experience
Strong understanding of machining on bronze, mild steel and stainless-steel alloys
Good problem-solving skills
Good housekeeping skills
Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization
Ability to solve practical problems
Ability to work under pressure and must be a team player
Proficient in Trigonometry
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear; use hands or fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, and controls. This employee is also subjected to lifting and bending, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, stooping, bending and squatting. Must be able to lift hand tools up to 40 lbs.
