Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Architectural Technologist to join our construction design team. You will play a key role in the design and technical development of project drawings ensuring compliance with building codes, technical standards, and client requirements. The technologist ensures that the designs meet functionality, safety, and regulatory requirements, while also incorporating effective use of materials and cost controls. You will work closely with external professional engineering firms, consultants, trade contractors and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Supports the Project Team in the design and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance the department’s workflow.
Develops technical design, construction drawings, architectural designs, and other relevant documentation as assigned.
Assists the project team in project design and related administration.
Analyzes building codes, bylaws, space requirements, site requirements, and other technical documents, when creating design plans.
Prepares manual, CAD and 3D drawings, specifications, and material quantity takeoffs from conceptual drawings and instructions.
Assists Project Management Team with contract and bidding documents as requested.
Conducts site visits (when applicable), obtains necessary field measurements and information.
Reviews & compares latest construction drawings from various disciplines to aid in identifying conflicts on overall design.
Maintains accurate up to date shop drawings, maintain drawing logs, and update and assemble as-built documents.
As required, attend meetings with project managers, clients, trade contractor partners, and other key stakeholders.
Requirements
Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
Proficiency with various computerized design programs, such as Auto- CAD and Revit.
Basic knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to resolve technical and design issues in a proactive, creative, and cost-effective manner.
Work Environment
In-person, primarily office based but with regular site visits to commercial construction sites for surveys, progress checks, and coordination.
Work in close collaboration with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, other Architectural Designers and Technologists, participating in design reviews and client meetings.
Typically involved in large-scale projects, from initial concept through to the completion of construction.
