Reporting to the Manager, Benefits, the Benefits Advisor will be responsible for assisting with the management, administration and client support of the company’s benefits program, for salaried and non-union hourly field employees. Additionally, the Benefits Advisor will assist in benefits coverage calculations and support for all leave of absences. This is a hybrid position and is based in the Mississauga, ON office. What You Will Be Working On Ownership of day-to-day benefit administration; including group medical and dental and retirement programs. Partner and collaborate with internal/external resources to troubleshoot and resolve any process, claims inquires, or service issues identified. Manage, co-ordinate and provide new hire benefit orientation, life change events and/or options to retirees to ensure employees receive accurate information and changes/enrolments are completed on a timely basis. Regular and timely reporting required as well as monitoring of beneficiaries, Evidence of Insurability (EOI), and overage dependents. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Draft correspondence with clients, plan participants and benefit providers that is accurate, timely and that expresses the company’s position with respect to a variety of issues. Assist in the development and dissemination of applicable policies and procedures and applicable employee communication. Provide outstanding service to all employees and external contacts. Manage benefits coverage calculations for all leaves of absence including, but not limited to, maternity, parental, compassionate care, including coordinating with People and Culture representatives and our disability team, ensuring compliance with applicable plan provisions and legislation. Prepare communication and documentation including premium calculation costs for employees wishing to pre-pay benefits while on unpaid leave of absence. Evaluate historical claims performance and work collaboratively with People and Culture and Management to provide solution-focused programs. Ensure all files are kept up-to-date, organized, and confidential. Manage or assist with ad hoc projects and related duties as they arise. What We Are Looking For Undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Commerce with a concentration in Human Resources or related discipline preferred Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and/or Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) preferred 1-2 years’ benefits administration experience within a large organization including plan design recommendations, benchmarking, and carrier changes Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including but not limited to Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, as well as Outlook) Workday knowledge an asset Demonstrates credibility and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information while providing exceptional customer service Ability to adapt and change to business requirements, by providing solutions to problems, well-articulated explanations; listens to the challenges and opportunities conveyed by clients and demonstrates a willingness to appreciate different perspectives Approaches work in a collaborative manner, considering dependencies of components being worked on by other members Ability to apply structured thinking, simplifying complex problems to a creative resolution Mathematical aptitude and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups Strong written and oral communication skills Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them This position is eligible for a compensation range of $65,000 - $75,000.
