How you'll make a difference:
- Lead the planning and engagement on a number of land use and city plans,
urban designs, policies, regulations, zoning, and strategies for both public
and private clients
- Participate in all aspects of our planning, engagement, and urban design
practice, from early analysis and visioning to the creation of conceptual
plans and policy directions, and recommendations to implement and realize a
diversity of great, complex, urban environments
- Undertake a broad range of projects: from site specific planning to area wide
policy reviews, development approvals, and master plans
- Work through a collaborative process with a cross-disciplinary team of
people, engaging a broad constituency of clients, stakeholders, and the
public
Your responsibilities will be project-driven and may include:
- Conducting and synthesizing detailed research and analysis
- Preparing for and facilitating public and stakeholder consultations
- Developing policy and planning documents
- Compiling team contributions into clear, compelling planning reports
- Leading client communications and relationship building
- Managing projects, budgets, and timelines
- Supporting business development and proposal writing
Who you are:
- 10+ years of related professional experience
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Planner with OPPI and a Member of the
Canadian Institute of Planners
- Strong understanding of urban planning, zoning, and urban design theory and
practice
- Graduate degree in urban planning
- Effective speaker and presenter
- A skilled report writer
- Strong ability to interpret and apply planning legislation and policy
- Compelling graphic communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
setting
- Able to resolve conflict respectfully and amicably
- Highly organized with strong project management skills
- Proficient in Adobe suite
While not required, you'll stand out with:
- Technical proficiency in GIS
- Knowledgeable and experienced in environmental, parks, climate adaptation,
and/or heritage planning
- Experience with housing and growth analysis
- IAP2 trained or equivalent
