The Town is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Facility Assistant with the Community Services Department. This position assists with the maintenance of the Alder Street Recreation Centre and the Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre. The successful candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, late evenings, and holidays in accordance with operational needs.
Job Duties:
Assisting with the maintenance of the facilities and changing garbage, shoveling, cleaning, sweeping, mopping; setting up and taking down tables and chairs and scrubbing.
Assisting with ice maintenance including, installation, removal, painting, flooding, and testing; Boards and shield maintenance, including repairs, replacements, and cleaning.
Assisting with the operation and maintenance of a pool according to the Health and Promotions Act including, change room cleaning, painting, and repairs.
Operating a variety of equipment to conduct ice, floor, pool and facility maintenance including sweepers, scrubbers, hand tools and power tools; Assisting with the daily maintenance on equipment/vehicle inspections and greasing as per established maintenance and operational checklists.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Some secondary school education (completion of Grade 10 minimum).
Previous experience cleaning in a similar environment would be an asset.
Standard First Aid and CPR and AED training would be an asset.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including but not limited to a Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with the duties of this position.
Hourly Range: $17.48 to $20.45, Band 1 on the Town’s 2025 Hourly Pay Grid
