Who We Are:
Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year-round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of events designed to deepen understanding of the plays. For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world’s most dedicated and experienced arts workers.
The Stratford Festival is committed to ongoing work to support equity, inclusion, anti-racism and anti-oppression in all areas of our work. We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Contract Cleaner to provide high-quality cleaning services for residential rental properties. This is a contractor position requiring flexible hours and is ideal for professionals who take pride in their work, are self-motivated, and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform full cleaning of rental homes between guest or tenant stays, including:
Dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors
Cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces
Changing linens and restocking basic supplies (if required)
Reporting any damage or maintenance issues
Ensure each property is guest-ready to a professional standard
Maintain discretion and respect for client and guest privacy
Work independently and manage scheduling based on turnover dates
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience in residential or vacation rental cleaning (1+ year preferred)
Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality and consistency
Dependable and punctual, with excellent time management skills
Flexible availability — including some weekends and short-notice callouts
Contractors are to supply their own cleaning supplies, equipment and reliable transportation
Ability to follow specific checklists and client instructions
Commitment to confidentiality and respect for private property
Compensation:
This is an independent contractor role. The contractor will be compensated at an hourly rate of $23/hour, based on services rendered.
Contractors are required to:
Track and submit hours worked on a bi-weekly basis
Include service dates, hours worked, and a brief description of services for each location
Add HST, if registered
This is an independent contractor opportunity. Contractors engaged in this role are not employees and are responsible for their own tax remittances, insurance, and business expenses.
