The Role
We are seeking a Full Stack Developer who brings both technical excellence and a strong sense of purpose. You will work closely with our designers, strategists, and clients to develop AI-powered platforms and tools that support people navigating complex systems such as healthcare or public services.
This is a key role for a builder who is equally comfortable working on elegant front-end interfaces and robust back-end systems. You understand how to implement AI and machine learning capabilities responsibly and are passionate about contributing to systems that must work for everyone, not just the majority.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain full stack web applications that are scalable, secure, and easy to use
Build responsive and accessible front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular
Develop server-side logic and APIs using programming languages such as Python, Node.js, or Java
Design and manage data models and databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
Integrate AI and machine learning models using platforms such as OpenAI, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or custom APIs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly prototype and test AI-enabled experiences
Translate user and research insights into technical features that deliver real value
Ensure performance, security, and privacy are considered in all aspects of the solution
Participate in code reviews, write clear documentation, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Support implementation and deployment across cloud environments, including AWS or Azure, and use containerization tools like Docker where appropriate
Work with design and research leads to ensure solutions align with human-centered principles and are built for real-world use
Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a full stack developer
Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, as well as frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular
Strong back-end development skills with one or more of the following: Python (Django or Flask), Node.js (Express), or Java (Spring Boot)
Experience working with relational and non-relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
Familiarity with integrating and deploying AI services such as large language models, recommendation engines, or data personalization tools
Experience working with RESTful APIs and third-party data integrations
Knowledge of DevOps practices including version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code
Ability to translate abstract or ambiguous requirements into working digital experiences
Comfort collaborating with non-technical colleagues and explaining technical concepts in clear, accessible terms
Passion for building inclusive and equitable technology, especially for users who are underserved or overlooked by traditional systems
Bonus: experience with AI ethics, data privacy, or explainability principles in applied settings
