As a part of the ENMAX Power Corporation Network team, Journeyperson Power System Electricians perform work in the construction, commissioning and maintenance, of the downtown electrical network. Major Responsibilities: Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations. Commission, troubleshoot, repair and maintain high voltage transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers and all other related equipment. Construction and maintenance, and the protection and control areas of high voltage electrical substations. Work on mechanical and electromechanical relays, remote terminal units (RTUs), SCADA systems, human machine interfaces (HMI), repair/troubleshoot protection and control circuits, and other relay related processes. Recognize, assess and control potentially hazardous situations in the work environment. Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment and work sites. Qualifications & Experience: Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade. Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or Safe Work Practices (SWPs). Will be qualified or able to qualify as a Power System Electrician under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act. A certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent would be an asset. Possesses a good working knowledge of the methods and procedures used in utility substation construction, maintenance, protection and control. Works comfortably in underground confined space environments and adverse climate conditions. Possesses knowledge of gas insulated switchgear. Possesses knowledge of the Alberta Electrical Utility Code (A.E.U.C Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations as they pertain to the trade. Willing to assist and train apprentices. Is able to communicate effectively to address customer concerns in a professional manner. Has had exposure to high stress situations and the ability to manage stress effectively. Experience working with MS Windows, MS Office, and computer-based test equipment. Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license and willing to upgrade to Class 1 driver’s license as required. Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required.
