Reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Logistics and HSEC Applications, the Functional Analyst, SAP Sales and Distribution ensures that SAP-based ECC systems in their portfolio meet business objectives and constraints. This portfolio enables Teck to process sales and financial transactions for refined metals and concentrates produced in North and South America and is essential to Teck realizing its cash flow forecasts.
Working closely with business stakeholders and ERP teams, this role ensures that the systems in the portfolio are configured to provide the necessary transactions, ensures the integrity of the transaction data, and supports SAP application access security. The Functional Analyst also evaluates opportunities for improvement in the SAP application and recommends enhancements and upgrades to the Marketing and Logistics organization.
This role requires SAP functional expertise in Sales & Distribution (SD) configuration and an understanding of sales, distribution, and accounting business processes.

In collaboration with business stakeholders and technology teams, ensures that Teck maximizes the value of the investment in the SAP-based portfolio by sustaining and evolving existing solutions and implementing business requirements to ensure the portfolio meets business objectives.
Sustains technical solutions in alignment with established SLOs and supports the delivery of new features / implementations to plan.
Specifies the changes and assesses the effort required to process transactions associated with additional refined metal, concentrate, and chemical products.
Analyzes and assists in troubleshooting SAP business system problems, specifies solutions, and supports implementation of necessary changes in compliance with Teck’s rigorous change management procedures.
Analyzes current business processes as implemented in SAP for efficiency and effectiveness.
Manages technology risks associated with the portfolio.
In collaboration with business stakeholders, contributes to the development and maintenance of business continuity and recovery plans.
Supports the development of training materials and provides training to end users to ensure that all procedures are understood.
Contributes to the development of action plans for the orderly introduction and integration of new or upgraded systems.
Qualifications
College/University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Relevant certifications in software development, project management, or IT management (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Scrum Master) are considered assets.
5–10 years of experience in software application development or supporting enterprise applications.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), project implementation, and applications lifecycle management.
Experience with business applications, integrations, and data management.
Experience in mining and base metals sales is an asset.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
