Production Supervisor

Description
As a member of the Operations team, the Production Supervisor is responsible to ensure that production requirements are met safely, on time and within acceptable levels of quality, and costs, specific to all materials, documentation and services required to support production and customers, both internal and external, for the assigned Department.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of employees on various pieces of equipment;
Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments;
Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality;
Training and mentoring of employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies;
Recommend personnel actions such as hire, promote, etc;
Evaluate the performance of employees and the department through performance appraisals;
Prepare production and other ad hoc reports;
Lead and participate on various teams;
Learn the basics of operating the equipment and assist with set-up or operation where needed;
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
3+ years of production supervisory/leadership experience in a unionized setting, ideally within a similar manufacturing environment and with similar equipment;
Applied experience in Lean Manufacturing Principles;
Ideal to have experience in a:
Chemical manufacturing environment;
Automotive manufacturing environment;
