We’re looking for a hands-on Facility Supervisor to support our Richmond Soil Treatment Facility. This position leads from the ground, overseeing daily operations, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring that waste is processed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. This position is well suited to someone looking for more than just a desk role.

Position Summary
The Facility Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the Richmond Soil Treatment Facility. This role combines crew leadership with active field work, including operating heavy equipment such as loaders and excavators to ensure waste is processed and disposed of safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This position spends most of its time working alongside the team, ensuring proper maintenance of facility infrastructure and equipment, managing and organizing staff schedules, equipment servicing, and overall workflow. The Facility Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in training, developing, and mentoring all facility personnel, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Safety
Attend, chair, and participate in safety meetings and daily tailgate meetings
Abide by Occupational Health and Safety standards
Ensure all employees within the Facility are equipped with proper PPE and are abiding by Occupational Health and Safety standards, as well as standard operating procedures
Actively fill out daily Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA’s) as required
Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of the equipment
Review all safety paperwork submitted by employees
Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and accountability
Supervision
Work with the Facility Manager to direct and delegate workload to ensure all waste is received and processed in a timely manner
Lead from the field – operating equipment and working alongside employees
Train, mentor, and develop facility employees
Perform effective workforce planning to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
Be available for staff to resolve daily issues and discuss their workload, how they are doing, and opportunities for improvement
Operations
Supervise and actively participate in all facility activities, including heavy equipment operation
Organize and delegate daily task assignments for facility employees
Ensure that all equipment is operated as per the instruction manual and/or Equipment Procedure Manual
Supervise all outbound shipments for disposal, transportation, and loading
Inspect facility for cleanliness, inventory and safety issues, and rectify in a timely and cost-effective manner
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all waste is handled, stores, and shipped according to regulations and company policies
Confirm customer waste streams are sent to the appropriate and approved facilities
Monitor compliance of waste volumes, segregation, labeling and storage limits
Financial Performance
Adhere to company policies governing operating expenses and purchasing
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years work experience in waste management, or comparable industry experience, or demonstrated competency
Proven ability to operate yellow iron equipment (excavators, loaders, etc.) safely and efficiently
Advanced comprehension and ability to implement Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site.
Ability to consistently act as a leader and a role model with respect to the Health & Safety Program, on and off the work
Excellent understanding of standard operating procedures for on site and ability to oversee and ensure proper operating procedures are followed
Good understanding of the regulatory requirements for the facility along with ability to ensure compliance of such requirements including permit conditions, waste characterization, waste classification, container requirements, segregation requirements, storage limits, lab packing, bulking/blending, commingling, labeling, inventorying, shipping and receiving and TDG
Ability to oversee and ensure waste manifests, bills of lading, load sheets, labels and recycle dockets are properly completed and submitted as required
Ability to supervise staff, delegate tasks, monitor staff performance and recommend strategies to address performance concerns/issues when required
Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult conditions

Good computer skills with ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows
Ability to communicate effectively and express thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner in both individual and group situations
Ability to maintain relationships with all levels of the organization
Strong time management skills and ability to be work effectively under pressure, meeting deadlines and managing changing priorities
Ability to work well in a team environment or independently as required
Open and honest with team members and clients as it relates to all aspects of work

This role may require a combination of office-based, remote, and on-site work depending on business needs. Employees should be prepared for:

Exposure to outdoor or industrial environments, including varying weather and terrain
