To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What you’ll be doing Reporting to the Senior Director, Deposits and Investments, you will support the team in providing specialized expertise, advice, oversight, independent monitoring and assessment, and reporting regarding regulatory compliance with market conduct obligations primarily involving retail deposit products and services (including, but not limited to, bank accounts, GICs/investment products; both registered and non-registered, and other sundry-type products and services). Additional accountabilities include supporting oversight of certain consumer-related CDIC by-laws (i.e., deposit insurance), and certain Voluntary Codes of Conduct and Public Commitments, and in providing assistance to Senior Director with other oversight responsibilities under the portfolio. Together with the businesses, the Compliance Department works to manage and mitigate regulatory risk. You will support the Senior Director in fulfilling the Canadian Retail Banking Compliance team’s mandate through supporting (and sometimes leading) regulatory initiatives; analyzing new and pending laws, regulatory requirements, and industry commitments, and conducting risk assessments. How you’ll succeed Compliance Oversight – support the development of enhanced monitoring and quality assurance oversight for Complaint Handling & Market Conduct Obligations (MCO) Complaints and Branch Closures, including oversight of Complaint monitoring testing activities, reporting and other Supervisory Activities performed by Business Controls for all impacted SBUs; support providing timely business consultation and guidance on regulatory developments and provide regulatory compliance perspectives to internal projects. Regulatory Oversight – You will support analyzing new and pending laws, regulations and industry commitments that affect areas of responsibility ensuring that relevant issues and organizational risks are identified and raised for consideration by management in formulation and revision of policies and procedures for regulatory compliance. You will also provide advice, recommendations and assistance in developing policies, procedures, training, and communications to ensure compliance. Issues Resolution Management – You will oversee or monitor the satisfactory resolution of complex, contentious or sensitive regulatory compliance issues, with significant product or business line implications, such as implementation of new client disclosure requirements, action plans to address a procedural non-compliance issue identified by external regulators, actions to address regulatory compliance control deficiencies, etc. Ensure that all significant compliance issues, such as deficiencies or regulatory risks are reported to the Senior Director, the VP Compliance, the Chief Compliance Officer and senior management, as appropriate. Who you are You can demonstrate experience in CIBC’s organizational structure, and organizational initiatives within your assigned business area(s), including new products, technologies and applications as well as their implications in order to ensure that the business is in conformity with all applicable laws, regulations and internal procedures.
