HDR is seeking a Construction Contract Administrator to join our Transportation – Construction and Field Services team to work on rail and transit construction projects. Reporting to the group lead, the position will be responsible for coordinating an onsite team of technical professionals and inspectors to oversee the implementation of construction inspection and administration tasks while representing the client onsite, and liaising with client representatives.
In the role of Construction Contract Administrator, we'll count on you to:
Provide administration of complex railway bridge and railway right-of-way construction projects;
Oversee and ensure Contract Administration deliverables are completed in accordance to client requirements;
Coordinate and conduct onsite inspection duties and prepare daily inspector’s diaries, as needed;
Promote and oversee implementation of health and safety regulations;
Review contractor activities are in accordance to the contract documents and requirements;
Provide oversight and confirmation of completed contract quantities are accurately calculated for processing progress and final payments;
Liaise with the contractor and client representatives;
Chair and lead project meetings;
Provide interpretation and recommendation of contractor submitted RFIs, extension of time requests, claims, and onsite construction issues;
Issue and/or negotiate change orders, extra work claims, and work directives;
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered with PEO as a P.Eng, and or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation
A minimum of 8 years experience in administering and inspecting railway and transit projects
Demonstrated experience railway right-of-way and/or rail bridge construction projects
Proven analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Laws and Regulations (Environmental, Health and Safety, etc.) and their application in construction contracts
Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Valid Ontario driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.
Required Qualifications
3 years contract related experience; advanced degree or contract certification program may substitute for years of experience
Professional, self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight
Excellent writing and people skills
Strong math and organizational skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office software
