We are Making Sustainability Happen. As a Billing Specialist, you’ll play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. You’ll be a key member of our finance team, ensuring that our high volume of invoices get sent out each week with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. Responsiveness, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities will be critical to your success. Our team moves quickly, so we need someone who builds trust through competence, and brings initiative and tenacity to everything they do. We also recently upgraded to a new ERP system, so ideally, you’re someone who is comfortable with software and technology, and excited to help build and create new, more efficient billing processes. Responsibilities: • Billing and Invoicing – creating draft invoices in collaboration with Project Managers in accordance with the billing schedule, sending final invoices to clients • Activating project setup submissions, ensuring accuracy in billing rates, budgets, and contractual documents • Ensuring financial related project maintenance such as budget updates, change orders, write-offs and closures are recorded in a timely and accurate manner • Producing draft and work in progress (WIP) reports for project tracking • Working/communicating with Project Managers, Project Controllers, Commercial Manager, Financial Controller and Collections Manager on issues such as aged WIP and A/R • Responding promptly and professionally to telephone and email communications • Assisting the accounting team with miscellaneous duties as required • Supporting on-going initiatives and special projects Cultural fit and shared vision are very important to SLR. Here’s what else you’ll enjoy as part of our team: • Competitive total compensation package commensurate with experience • Comprehensive benefit plan and a suite of wellness initiatives • Full-time, permanent role with flexible scheduling available • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement Qualifications: • Minimum 5 years of experience in billing and accounting roles, preferably within project-based industries such as engineering or consulting • Proven ability to manage high-volume billing operations, processing several hundred invoices weekly with accuracy and efficiency • Proficient in Deltek Vantagepoint, with direct, hands-on experience managing billing workflows and financial data within the platform • Strong collaboration skills with demonstrated experience working directly with clients and project managers • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and LOOKUP functions • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. This is an in-office position based in Calgary and requires full-time, on-site presence Monday through Friday.
