Every Mission Needs a Steady Hand at the Controls
We’re looking for a Software Deployment Specialist to join our team in Calgary. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and customer success.
Your goal? Ensure BlueMarvel deployments are seamless, secure, and stable — while shielding our developers from the chaos of go-lives, support requests, and daily firefighting.
You’ll lead cloud and on-prem deployments, support live systems, and navigate technical conversations with customers. You’ll bring clarity and calm to high-stakes environments, helping customers feel confident while giving developers the space to build world-class products.
Key Responsibilities
Deployment Ownership & System Reliability
Lead and execute software deployments (cloud and on-prem), ensuring smooth rollouts and system integrity.
Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred) for Dockerized applications.
Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and proactively troubleshoot performance, scalability, and availability issues.
Customer Support & Success
Act as the first point of contact for technical deployment topics.
Build strong relationships with customer teams by providing clear communication and responsive support.
Guide customers through discussions on architecture, security, infrastructure access, and go-live readiness.
Infrastructure & Automation
Help manage our Azure infrastructure, including container orchestration, blob storage, and networking.
Implement and maintain security best practices across deployments (e.g., Auth0, data access, infrastructure hardening).
Identify manual workflows and optimize them through automation and scripting.
Collaboration & QA
Work closely with Product, Dev, and Customer Success to stay aligned on evolving tools and features.
Participate in internal testing and QA processes to validate deliverables before release.
Support documentation and training to ensure shared understanding across technical teams and with customers.
Skills for Liftoff
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
2+ years of experience in software deployment, DevOps, or technical support roles.
Experience with Microsoft Azure (blob storage, VM/container orchestration, virtual networking); AWS is a plus.
Familiarity with Docker, Linux-based systems, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) and infrastructure security.
Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps preferred) and scripting/automation.Exposure to MongoDB, industrial data protocols (Inmation, Pi, DeltaV), and data pipeline tools is a bonus — but not a requirement.
Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills.
Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong sense of accountability for both technical quality and customer success.
