Job overview:
As part of the development team, you will be helping conceive, design, develop and deliver UI tools that are used in a variety of broadcast applications. You will work to improve and grow the technical competence of our designs. Our small teams encourage outside of the box thinking, we value innovation and feedback, and you will work alongside a diverse group of people with a broad range of skills and experience. You will be working on design systems used in real-world applications and get to see the results of your hard work firsthand.
The team is based in Ottawa ON and works primarily remote with the expectation that all team members come into office on the same day, once every other week.

What the job is all about:
Work with stakeholders and the team to integrate, educate and support new tools and practices
Participate in the planning, development, testing and delivery of high-quality ReactJS components and related solutions
Work directly with stakeholders to guide, advise and support the use of our platform
Work closely with the team to develop a complete design system serving an ecosystem of diverse products and platforms
Participate in code reviews
Help identify and implement improvements to the quality, maintainability, and sustainable delivery of our products
Provide support to consumers/implementers of our tools and systems
Thoughtfully apply Lean and Agile principles to develop the highest quality solutions
Work across teams and job functions to leverage our varied platforms and experiences to create solutions that only we can
Learn how operators make use of our products to make informed product decisions

Who you are:
8+ years of experience in software development or a related industry
Expert knowledge of ReactJS, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript
In-depth knowledge of component-driven development, encapsulation, and reusability
Vision for building maintainable, reusable design systems and patterns
Excellent communication skills for working with diverse teams, across roles and functions
Focus on team mentorship and fostering innovation
An aptitude for continuously improving development processes and practices
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Professional experience collaborating closely with User Experience and Visual Designers
Deep knowledge of Web Accessibility standards and implementation
Experience with testing and refactoring
Working knowledge of GUI test automation
Bonus points if you have the following:
Experience applying Functional Programming principles in TypeScript
Experience with various package managers and build tools
Experience working in an Agile software development context including any of Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or XP
Experience with collaborative development methods including Pair Programming and Ensemble (aka Mob) Programming
Experience with build automation pipelines
Experience with test automation frameworks
Knowledge and/or experience in practices such as Domain Driven Design, Behaviour Driven Development, Test Driven Development, etc.
Experience with different aspects of manual or automated software testing (acceptance testing, end to end testing, performance testing, pen testing etc.)
Familiarity with broadcast production environments and automation
