Position Title: Senior Associate – Individual Inforce Risk Analysis
Reports To: Director, Individual Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax
Department: Individual Operations
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

We are looking for a Senior Associate – Individual Inforce Risk Analysis to join our dynamic Individual Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax team! We are seeking a self-motivated professional with excellent critical thinking skills who is thorough and curious.
In this role, you will join a team that handles complex policyholder queries, oversees Individual Life policyholder taxation and maintains the integrity of policyholder tax administration systems. This role does not receive actuarial exam support.

What you will be doing:
Answer queries on complex policyholder taxation and actuarial inforce policy issues
Identify potential gaps, omissions or activities that could expose the organisation to unnecessary operational risk
Review and sign-off on system changes and operational procedures and processes with respect to actuarial inforce policy calculations and policyholder taxation
Review processes and procedures followed by the Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax team
Recommend changes to processes and procedures as appropriate
Provide subject matter expertise on actuarial inforce and policyholder taxation (including participation in projects)
Develop and maintain tools to support actuarial inforce business and policyholder taxation
Review and verify tax slips before submission to clients
Ensure exempt test processes are appropriate and applied properly for all inforce individual life policies and recommend needed modifications
Ensure calculation and rate integrity of inforce illustration systems
Peer review and sign-off on illustration software specifications prepared by the Illustrations team with respect to policyholder tax calculations and inforce illustration rules and calculations.
What you will bring:
University degree, preferably in Mathematics, Physics or Finance
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Keen attention to detail and curiosity about what you do
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Focus on providing excellent service to clients
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel including VBA
Solid knowledge of SQL
Solid knowledge of a coding language (e.g. Python, C, C++)
Strong negotiation, collaboration and decision-making skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines for various stakeholders
Knowledge of individual life and health products is an asset
Knowledge of Automation Suite Tools (e.g. Pyautogui, Selenium) is an asset
