Position Title: Senior Technology Specialist, Core Systems Developer
Reports To: Senior Technology Manager
Department: IT Individual Wealth
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

Put your knowledge of the latest technologies to work creating solutions to some of the insurance and investments industry’s toughest challenges. Work in a team to understand business needs and build innovative responses to today’s problems and tomorrow’s opportunities.
We work using a wide variety of primarily Microsoft tools including APIM, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, .NET framework, .NET 6/7, SQL Server and other technologies. Your work will be part of changing the way Equitable helps clients get the help they need when they need it most.

What you will be doing:
Be a part of a team of developers to create and enhance a wide range of solutions using a variety of technologies
Recommend and implement system designs based on long-term IT organization strategy
Provide technical and team leadership to continuously evolve the capabilities and technologies that enable continuous delivery of shared infrastructure systems
Work closely with business and systems analysts, and QA to develop alternative solutions to meet business needs
Analyze root cause for problems and recommend solutions
Investigate and resolve production incidents
Research and recommend technologies to the team and management to help keep our tech stack up-to-date
Participate in an IT-On Call rotation
What you will bring:
Willingness and ability to learn new ways of working and different technologies
Proficiency in C# .Net with at least 5 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL with at least 3 years experience
Strong background in maintenance and support of backend systems.
Proven experience in leading projects and teams.
Expertise in system integrations, including batch processing (ActiveBatch), ETL-type integrations (e.g., SSIS) and SOAP/RESTful APIs.
Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQL with at least 2 years of relevant experience
Experience with SOAP and/or RESTful services
High motivation to be a team player and ability to be a strong individual contributor
Effective verbal and written communications, with an ability to effectively convey information, concepts, and ideas to others
Hands on experience using testing frameworks (ie. NUnit, etc.) is an asset
Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field
