Position Title: Intermediate Technology Specialist, Digital Developer
Reports To: Senior Technology Manager – Digital
Department: IT Group Insurance
Term: Temporary – Fulltime (18 months contract)
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

We're looking for an Intermediate Technology Specialist to join us and play a pivotal role in shaping our technology landscape. In this role, you'll have the chance to work directly with our key leaders to understand their business needs and support their strategies with tailored technology solutions. It's a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of developing and implementing technologies that benefit both our internal and external clients. Moreover, you'll be providing technical and practice leadership, ensuring that our capabilities and technologies continue to evolve. As part of a dynamic cross-functional agile team, you'll be collaborating closely to develop, test, launch, and refine solutions aimed at optimizing the Individual Insurance servicing experience. What you will be doing:
Critically evaluate current processes and proactively contribute to, or lead, the implementation of improvement opportunities by incorporating past learnings and leveraging industry best practices
Solutions focused approach - advocate for continuous improvement / innovation amongst the team receptive to, solicit, and apply feedback and learnings on the job
Seek out and obtain required, and beyond what's required, professional and/or industry knowledge and training, for both personal and organizational benefit
Consider the big picture implications when implementing changes or improvements
Adapt to changes in priorities, assigned responsibilities and projects by seeking out the why and how if not readily understood
What you will bring:
3+ years of experience in IT;
Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following or related discipline: computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering
Technical certifications an asset
Experience in Infrastructure as Code applied to DevOps, DevSecOps.
Understanding of cloud security best practices
Understanding of architectural concepts
Coding experience in frameworks, languages and database technologies utilized or emerging at Equitable
Demonstrated knowledge of web/mobile design and object-oriented programming practices
Hands on working knowledge of React, Angular, .NET, C#, PWAs, APIs, Azure DevOps/Cloud, SQL, and Design Library Systems
Experience with agile practices, scrum delivery, test automation and Azure Pipelines
Working knowledge of responsive design and grid principles
