BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), owner and operator of BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre, is hiring a Building Technician to join the Facilities Management team at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
The Vancouver Convention Centre has 2500 doors and this talented team fixes all of them. If you are a mechanically inclined handyperson who has experience in landscaping, carpentry, construction and maintenance, we want to talk to you. No day is the same, whether you are refitting new ceiling tiles, drywalling, replacing carpet and maintaining machinery, you get to work in one of the most beautiful buildings in Vancouver.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities, the Building Technician is very much a team player, a great communicator and a friendly face.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Perform fit and finish and carpentry work.
Perform inspections and routine repairs to doors, locks and hardware.
Carpet tile inspection and replacement.
Dry wall repairs and painting.
Ceiling tile replacements.
Perform inspections and minor maintenance on mobile equipment such as forklifts, scissor and boom lifts, tow motors, and maintenance vehicles.
Submit recommendations to the manager regarding replacement of sub-standard components and progressive upgrades worn or obsolete components.
Liaise with engineering team and contractors as necessary or complete minor repairs as needed in front and back of house spaces.
Perform pressure washing and cleanup tasks are the facility.
Ceramic tile replacements and exterior paving stone re-leveling
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have completed a recognized Apprenticeship Program or hold a Residential Building Maintenance Worker Certificate. Experience as a Carpenter, Millwright, or Automotive Repair is highly coveted. Also, working within the Construction trades such as carpet layer, mason, roofer or landscaper is an asset. The ability to lift to 50 pounds. Required. Must be comfortable working at heights.
