We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Regional Maintenance Manager for Alberta and British Columbia,to lead maintenance operations across a portfolio of 8–10 hotels in the Vancouver and Calgary area. This is not just a supervisory position — the ideal candidate will spend approximately 50% of their time on-site at the properties, actively managing and executing major maintenance and capital projects, conducting assessments, and working side-by-side with local maintenance teams. You will bring strong technical expertise, particularly in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, and will lead both strategically and physically to ensure a consistent standard of excellence across all locations. A trade certification (Red Seal or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
The Regional Maintenance Manager will respond to escalated maintenance concerns and support local teams in delivering timely, guest-focused solutions. Strong proficiency with hand and power tools is required, along with a solid understanding of WHMIS standards and provincial health and safety regulations. Use of personal protective equipment in compliance with WorkSafeBC and Alberta OHS requirements is mandatory.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid Drivers' License and own vehicle.
High school diploma/GED.
2 years of maintenance experience.
Minimum 1 year of experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
Able to travel within Alberta & BC (60 - 70 % of the job)
Overtime as required.
DUTIES:
Delegate daily, weekly and monthly tasks to maintenance workers
Supervise tasks assigned to maintenance workers
Perform regular property inspections of the hotel including common areas, building exterior, and landscape.
Responsible for vandalism clean up and repair, within skill level.
Maintain heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, pumps, fan units, control panels, thermostats, cooling towers, etc.
Maintain working knowledge of environmental safeguards and alarm systems.
Maintain fire alarms and extinguishers.
Prepare and set up rooms or auditoriums for meetings, parties, or various other activities and clean up afterwards.
Maintain outside grounds (remove snow, ice, and debris, spray and remove weeds, sweep and clean gutters, water and maintain sprinkling systems)..
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.
Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces, as required.
Drywalls repairs and caulking.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Project Execution (50% On-Site Work):
Oversee, manage, and participate in major maintenance and capital projects across hotel properties.
Conduct site visits regularly to assess building systems, perform troubleshooting, and support teams with technical repairs or system upgrades.
Serve as a subject matter expert and lead technician for complex tasks such as HVAC diagnostics, mechanical retrofits, and equipment replacements.
Leadership & Oversight:
Supervise and mentor on-site maintenance personnel at each property.
Provide coaching, hands-on training, and performance evaluations to ensure technical consistency and skill development.
Act as the primary point of contact between site teams and ownership/management for maintenance-related initiatives.
Preventative Maintenance:
Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems.
Monitor adherence to schedules and perform periodic on-site quality assurance inspections.
Standardization & Process Improvement:
Establish and maintain operational SOPs, technical standards, and documentation procedures across all properties.
Identify inefficiencies and introduce best practices to streamline maintenance workflows and reduce downtime.
APPLICABLE SKILLS:
Ability to perform small repairs
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels.
Must be familiar with cleaning products.
Strong customer service orientation and skills.
Interact with management, co-workers, and public.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
Must have or be prepared to take Pool Operator's Course provided by AHS.
