JOB SUMMARY

As an Assistant Manager in our Retail Department at Grouse Mountain, you’ll play a key role in the daily operations of all retail outlets across the mountain. Working in collaboration with our Retail Manager, you’ll bring an eye for product and industry knowledge to work with vendors and reach department KPI goals, knowledge of trends and anticipatory understanding of needs and wants for our visitors alongside strong leadership skills to contribute to the mountain experience for both guests and our team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensuring the efficient operation of all retail outlets at Grouse Mountain including Outfitters, Spirit Gallery, Essentials, Rentals, Grizzly Yurt and the Theatre
Assisting with sourcing, selecting and managing store merchandise and inventory
Maintaining merchandise displays, providing management with assessments of customer attitudes, needs and wants while ensuring department KPI’s are met
Working with vendors and A/P to improve systems, payments and communication
Recruiting, training, scheduling and developing team of Retail Associates with a focus on customer service and product knowledge
Managing the guest experience and ensuring service standards are met or exceeded to achieve a high Net Promoter Score
Completing internal payroll, data entry, performance reviews, daily logs and other company documentation according to outlined standards
Maintaining and notifying staff of procedures and policies, ensuring the safe and efficient daily operation of all retail outlets
Completing opening and closing duties of the department and coordinating day-to-day operations
All other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides direct supervision and leadership to the Retail Supervisors, Key Holders, Inventory Clerk and Retail Associates.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail operations, preferably in sportswear
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role
Ability to drive sales
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to drive a Guest Obsessed culture
Ability to think and act strategically, work independently and manage time efficiently
Exceptionally strong oral communication skills, ability to develop rapport and credibility
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of staff and external contacts and brand reps
Strong skills with Word, Excel & Microsoft Outlook and POS systems
Understanding of SQL database reports and PowerBI reporting an asset
Ability to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends and holidays
High energy, outgoing, approachable and strong work ethic
Successful candidate must complete a criminal record check once offered the position. The check must be completed prior to start date if you are 19 years and older. Grouse Mountain will assist you with the process.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks. Majority of the work is indoor work with the occasional need to be outside in the elements.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$55,000 to $62,000 annually
